Morgan Smith

The graduate of Columbia College at Columbia University as well as Mannes College of Music in New York City, Morgan became an Seattle Opera young artist (1999-2000) then in 2001 made his professional debut in the role of Donald in Billy Budd. One of the most popular roles in Seattle, Mr. Smith has performed roles in a dozen other operas since the debut. These include the role of Count Alamaviva as Count Alamaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni (title role), Silvio in I Pagliacci, Riccardo in I Puritani as well as Peter Niles in Mourning Becomes an Electra. He is a regular performer on the stage for concerts Smith has also performed in several other productions. Smith made his Dallas Symphony debut with Bach's St. Matthew Passion, and made his debut with his orchestra, the San Antonio Symphony for the North American premiere of Vier Praludien und Ernste Gesange, Detlef Glanert's orchestral adaptation of the beloved work by Brahms. The other repertoire for concerts includes Beethoven's Ninth Symphony; the Requiems of Brahms, Faure, Mozart and Durufle; the Mass with the Mass in C Minor of Mozart and the Mass that is in G Minor from Vaughan Williams; Bach's B Minor Mass and numerous cantatas and Weihnachts Oratorium; Handel's Messiah as well as L'Allegro and the il Penseroso and Il Moderato as well as Haydn's The Creation and Lord Nelson Mass.
